In Honolulu and the island of Oahu, public transport works great. Local bus routes cover the whole island and take passengers to almost all attractions. One-way ticket costs $2.75 (€2.30). To save, buy unlimited day passes for $5.50 (€4.60). It is a conventional paper with the date and day of the week printed on it. Regardless of the time of purchase, it will be active only till 03:00 of the next day.
Stop by the statue of King Kamehameha – the king that united the Hawaiian Islands
In front of the building of the Supreme Court of Hawaii, there is an 18-meter statue of King Kamehameha I. This statue is most often photographed by tourists. Every June 11, it is decorated with lei (Hawaiian flower garland).
Try not to lose your head from the island scenery at Stairway to Heaven near Honolulu
On the south side of the Ha’iku Valley, a wooden staircase is attached to the rock. This is the start of Stairway to Heaven. The staircase consists of 3922 steps and rises to a height of 850 m above sea level. If you look at the stairs in cloudy weather, it seems that it takes travellers straight into the sky. Nowadays, you can only admire the trail from a distance or follow the similar but legal route of the Moanalua Valley Trail.
