Visit Palacio Real de La Magdalena — former royal residence in Santander
This early 20th-century building at the top of the Magdalena Peninsula is one of the main tourist attractions of Santander. Around a century ago, it was the summer residence of King Alfonso XIII and Queen Victoria Eugenia de Battenberg. The palace has not only a magnificent facade but also a beautiful interior with furniture from the 16th-18th centuries. The palace chapel will impress you with its 17th-century altars, the Saleta de la Reina, a private room of the queen.
See an impressive building of the Gran Casino Sardinero in Santander
The casino was opened more than 100 years ago, in 1916. The Modernist-style exterior of the building is combined with a richly decorated interior. The stained glass window and stairway are especially noteworthy. As for gambling, the casino offers slot machines and houses poker games. Even if you are a fan of neither, the architecture alone is worth a visit.
