The MIMMA is located in a Baroque mansion from the 18th century. It has an astounding collection of almost 1,000 musical instruments from different countries and periods. However, its main peculiarity is the ‘Please play’ rooms, where the visitors can try playing the instruments themselves. The rooms of the Principia, an interactive science museum, cover different branches of science — electricity, astronomy, biology, mechanics, chemistry, and mathematics. There are four main areas. The ‘Tomás Hormigo Room’ has more than 80 interactive modules dealing with mechanics, waves, perception, geology, etc. The ‘Faraday Room’ allows you to experiment with electromagnetism. The planetarium with a 5-metre diameter dome shows various astronomical events. Moreover, Principia has its astronomical observatory with a movable 3-metre dome.
