Seville travel tips
Be prepared for the fact that the people of Seville are not too punctual
In hot Seville, no one is in a hurry. Lack of punctuality is a national feature of the Spaniards, but it is especially pronounced in Andalusia. If the locals have promised you something, don't expect them to do it this very minute or even on time.
Step inside a hotel formerly owned by the Havana Mafia in Seville
Hotel Sevilla Biltmore once belonged to the Havana mafia, according to one of the urban legends. Santo Tafficante Jr. and Amletto Battisti owned the hotel, and the most influential mafiosi gathered at the hotel for secret meetings. During the renovation of the hotel, the original interiors and Cuerda Seca tiles have been preserved. Today this hotel is called Mercure Sevilla and costs around 90 euro per night.
Dare to climb to the very top of the Giralda tower on foot
The Giralda Tower was originally the minaret of the Great Mosque of Seville. However, then the mosque was rebuilt as a Gothic cathedral, and the minaret was used as the bell tower of the Seville Cathedral. In the 16th century, the tower was completed in the Spanish Renaissance style. At the very top of the bell tower, there is a 4-meter sculpture, which serves as a weather vane. You can go up there only on foot. You will have to overcome 100 meters and 34 flights, and the reward will be a wonderful view of the city.
