Still, most likely, you won’t meet any aggressive binge drinkers in Madrid, so it is quite safe in the city centre at night. If you need sleep, book accommodation further from the very city centre – at least in the Salamanca or Chamberi districts.

Museo ABC is located in the building of the first factory of the world-famous Spanish beer brand Cerveza Mahou. The museum hosts a private collection of artworks from the 19th to the 21st centuries and exhibits by young painters.

Churros and porras are local fried doughnuts. They are served in local patisseries, churrerías, with coffee or hot chocolate. One of the most famous churrerías is Chocolatería San Gines. It has been operating since the end of the 19th century; the walls there are hung with photographs of celebrities who bought sweets here.
