Barcelona travel tips
1) Get a great view of Barcelona from the gardens at the Montjuic hill
A 177-metre hill near the sea offers some great vantage points. It is covered with the greenery of numerous gardens, including Jardí Botànic, Jardins de Mossèn Costa i Llobera, Jardins de Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer, etc. You can find some shades to hide from the sun, study cacti and blossoming flowers, and take wonderful pictures of Barcelona sprawled beneath.
2) Take advantage of the free walking tours in Barcelona
You can choose from a variety of free and paid tours in Barcelona. A ‘free’ tour means that the guide works for tips. Paid tours are conducted by more experienced guides with a deeper knowledge of their subjects. Still, most free tours offer a good overview of the city. If you want to learn more about Barcelona but are on a tight budget — try this option!
3) See Barcelona’s Arc de Triomf
The Arc del Triomf in Barcelona is quite different from its famous namesake in Paris. Catalan version is half its size (30 metres) and was built more than 80 years later (in 1888). Still, the monument looks magnificent in its Neo-Mudéjar style. Barcelona’s Arc de Triomf has no military connotation. It was an entrance to the Barcelona Universal Exposition in Ciutadella Park. Various Catalan artists decorated the arch’s sides with sculptures. Come and admire those masterpieces for yourself!
