Bratislava travel tips
1) Make a trip to Danubiana, one of the youngest art galleries in Europe | Danubiana is located on the bend of the Danube river, on the border of three countries, 15 km from the centre of Bratislava. It hosts international exhibitions and audiovisual installations. The building itself is worth visiting to admire how the modern architecture is embedded in the main European river's landscape. |

2) If you are in Bratislava in September, you can join the Coronation Day | Coronation Day is a large-scale carnival procession that can be seen on the first weekend of September in Bratislava. The procession moves from Bratislava Castle to the Hviezdoslav Square, where the festival ends with a theatrical ceremony. |
3) Do not talk much about the Czech Republic when speaking to locals | Yes, Prague is also a beautiful city, but Slovaks don’t like mentioning it because of the Velvet Divorce that divided Slovakia and the Czech Republic in 1993. Just the way you won’t wax lyrical about Barcelona in Madrid, don’t mention Prague when speaking to Bratislava residents. |
