1) Visit the home of Scott Joplin in St. Louis, the founder of the ragtime music genre

Visit the St. Louis house where Scott Joplin, "Ragtime's father", lived from 1901 to 1903. The site still houses the musician's memorabilia and a piano played by staff. The tour price is $6 for adults.

2) Visit the St. Louis Municipal Opera House, the country's oldest open-air theatre

The Municipal Opera House, also known as The Muny, opens its season from mid-June to mid-August. The first show at this theatre was Robin Hood (1919), in which the mayor of the city played King Richard. The Muny usually produces seven musicals per season. The theatre's capacity allows us to say that it is the oldest open-air theatre and the largest one. It accommodates 11,000 people and has about 1,500 free seats in the back rows.
