The Gateway to The West parabolic arch is 193 m high. The stainless steel structure is part of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial Park. The purpose of the memorial is to remind residents of the city and its guests of the role of St. Louis in the development of the Wild West. At the arch’s highest point, an observation platform offers a picturesque view of the city.
Visit the St. Louis Municipal Opera House, the country's oldest open-air theatre
The Municipal Opera House, also known as The Muny, opens its season from mid-June to mid-August. The first show at this theatre was Robin Hood (1919), in which the mayor of the city played King Richard. The Muny usually produces seven musicals per season. The theatre's capacity allows us to say that it is the oldest open-air theatre and the largest one. It accommodates 11,000 people and has about 1,500 free seats in the back rows.
