Staroměstské náměstí is a historic square in the centre of Prague. There are colourful buildings in completely different architectural styles (the Gothic Tyn Church, the Baroque St. Mikulas Cathedral, the Kinský Palace in the Rococo style). Still, the magic of Prague makes this square enchanting.

Please note that there are two plates on each house in Prague. On the red plate, there is the old, cadastral number of the house within a certain area. On the blue one (usually, it is a smaller sign), there is the usual number. Plus, street names are indicated only at intersections.

The Prague Castle Picture Gallery offers free admission every Monday. You can familiarise yourself with paintings by Titian, Rubens, Aachen, and other famous artists there. Also, the Museum of Decorative Arts has a free entry on Tuesday afternoons. It was opened in 1900 and hosts examples of applied arts: ceramics, jewellery, tableware, fabrics, etc. Some museums have free admission all year round, like the Army Museum, the Wallenstein Palace, and the Museum of the Infant Jesus of Prague.
