The theatre was built in the 1st century and used until the 3rd. Later some of its stones and columns were used for building the nearby Alcazaba fortress. Discovered in 1951, it remained half-hidden until the 90s. The Culture House, built on this site in the 1940s, was demolished. The stands of the theatre have a 31-metre radius and a height of 16 metres. The site has returned to its original use, and different shows take place here.

Violent crimes are rare in Málaga. You won’t feel uneasy on its streets even at night, especially in the city centre. Still, like any major tourist destination, it has its share of pickpockets. This beautiful building is located in the middle of the Old Town, but is hidden in the side street — don’t miss it! The Sacred Heart Church was built in 1920. Fernando Guerrero Strachan, the revered local architect, called ‘the Gaudí of Málaga’, designed it. The church has an eye-catching facade in biscuit stone with the two spires and the Gothic tracery. It looks exceptionally fresh after the recent renovation.
