Málaga travel tips

1) Wait out the worst of Málaga sun at the Historic Botanical Garden of La Concepcion

This English landscape garden was originally created as a recreational spot for the upper-middle-class family more than 150 years ago. It is one of the few gardens in Europe with subtropical climate plants. There you can find 50,000 plants, including even some tropical species. In particular, the garden has more than a hundred different species of palms, bamboo, and aquatic plants. A wonderful escape on a hot summer day!

2) The speed limit is quite low on the Málaga streets

The Spanish roads with one lane in each direction have a speed limit of 30km/h. If the road and pavement are on the same level, you can’t go faster than 20km/h! Two and more lanes in each direction allow the driver to speed up to 50km/h. The fine for violating speed limits may range from €100 to €600, and tourists have to pay it on the spot. Be careful and drive safely!

3) Visit the former Bishop’s residence in Málaga

The Bishop's Palace or the Episcopal Palace is a series of buildings constructed in the 16th-18th centuries. The most impressive feature of its exterior is an impressive Baroque facade facing the Plaza del Obispo. The pink marble columns, beautifully finished, stand out on the grey marble background. Inside there are Baroque and Mannerist courtyards. One of them, the Throne Room, was used for the Bishop's receptions. You also can’t help but notice an impressive staircase covered by an elliptical dome.
