If you would like to learn more about nature in a fun way, the Morrison-Knudsen Nature Centre provides some great activities focused on nature. You will learn interesting facts about birds, fish and plant life, and the Stream Walk will teach you how to look for a myriad of different creatures in their natural environment. There is also a fun scavenger hunt to enjoy. The museum is located at 600 South Walnut Street and is open Tuesday — Sunday 10.00 — 3.00 p.m.

Knowing quite where to start can be tricky, but BUGS (Boise Urban Garden School) is the perfect place. At the BUGS organic garden, staff show adults and children the fundamentals of gardening in an environmentally friendly way. In the summer, there are one week courses for children to develop their gardening and cookery skills. BUGS is located at 2995 North Five Mile Rd.

If you haven’t tried fishing before, the River Boise presents the perfect opportunity as the river and the ponds along the Greenbelt are regularly stocked with fish. The river is particularly popular with fly fishermen.
