Gdańsk travel tips
The longest wooden pier is a reason to visit Sopot
Come here for a walk along a beautiful wooden pier that goes far into the sea. It is considered to be the longest in Europe. You may walk there for free in winter and enjoy the frosty sea breeze and swans with ducks walking along the beach. In the summertime, you should buy a ticket to enter the pier. It is as well as beaches crowded with sunbathing people.
Go to the Gdansk zoo — the largest one in Poland
The Gdansk zoo, occupying 126ha, has around 900 animals from all continents. Some of them can be found only here. The zoo is extremely popular — in 2019, it had almost half a million visitors! The cost of the ticket does not exceed 8 euro per person. You can easily spend most of the day here, walking its alleys, taking a train tour, or climbing the rope park.
Keep your headlights on even in the daytime when driving in Gdansk
In Poland, you should turn headlights on not only after dark but also during the day, all year. That means using daytime running light or low beams. Note that headlights can also be used for unofficial communication between drivers. If a car on the opposite lane 'winks' you, stay alert! There might be a radar or a road patrol ahead.
