The Gdansk Bay has several sandy beaches, including Jelitkowo and Brzezno. Those are great places to sunbathe and relax. However, you should mind the colour of the flag on the beach before swimming. For instance, the local Sanitary Inspectorate may forbid entering the water because of a high amount of some bacteria.

The lighthouse at Nowy Port in Gdansk was built in the 1890s. It was the first one on the Baltic to use electric light. This coal and ore carrier made its first journey in 1949. The three-masted Dar Pomorza (The Gift Of Pomerania), moored at Gdynia, is 40 years older.
