Gdańsk travel tips
1) Observe Gdansk from the highest viewpoint in northern Poland
The 32nd floor in the 180m tall Olivia Star skyscraper offers a marvellous 360-degree view of the Tri-city and the Baltic coast. The observation level has two restaurants to enjoy the landscape, food, and live music. The prices for tickets start at €4, but you can get a 30% discount if you buy three days in advance. Besides, there are family tickets and tickets with food (dessert, pizza, fish, etc.)
2) Try fish dishes in Gdansk restaurants
The sea’s proximity means that the menus of many Tri-city (Gdansk, Sopot, Gdynia) restaurants will include sea fish dishes. Note that not all fish come from ‘right from the Baltic sea’. To taste something caught locally, try ordering turbot, sander, cod sprats, or sea trout. The waiter will be able to explain to you where a particular fish originates from.
3) Shoot Kalashnikov rifle at shooting ranges in Gdansk
Gdansk has several places to try out firearms legally. Klub Strzelających Inaczej and DSTeam Shooting Range are among the most popular ones. You can try the famous Glock, Beretta, M-16, or AK-47. Just don’t forget to make an appointment beforehand and take your ID or driving licence with you. Note also that it’s better to plan shooting range first and the bar second. Weapons and alcohol are not allowed to be mixed!
