Warsaw travel tips
The Warsaw pass, local tourist card, provides entrance to museums and galleries and free public transport. However, if you are not a museum-goer but you still want to roam the city freely for a few days, consider two or three-day tickets. If you use public transport a lot, that’s cheaper and more comfortable than buying many one-time tickets. Besides, if you travel in a company of at least seven people, a group ticket may also be a bargain.
Ticket collectors in Warsaw are unremarkable but severe. The fine for not having a full ticket is 266 zloty (61.5 Euro) and 196 zloty (45 Euro) for a reduced one. We strongly advise you not to try your luck. Otherwise, you can pay for the violation even by card right on the spot.
Like in many Western European cities, almost everything is closed on Sundays in Warsaw, including shopping malls, bank offices, and grocery stores. Restaurants, cafes, and bars are open, so Sunday can be called the official day of wandering around the city centre from one venue to another. But be sure to book a table since all popular venues are usually fully booked on Sundays.
