Lyon travel tips
1) Drunk driving may cost you a pretty penny in Lyon
According to French law, the driver caught with more than 0.5g of alcohol per litre of blood is punished by a fine of €135. 0.8g per litre and more will cost you €4,500! The upper limit for drivers with less than three years of experience is just 0.2g per litre. If you fall into that category, you need to be as sober as a judge behind the wheel. But even if you have more experience — don’t try your luck!
2) Try piloting an airliner at AviaSim Lyon
AvisSim is one of the largest flight simulation centres in France. You can try to pilot an airliner, F-16 fighter aircraft or Bell 206 helicopter. Your flight conditions are customisable: choose from thousands of airports worldwide, determine the weather and time of day. Carry out missions, fly over New York or Moscow. Feel yourself a hero pilot!
3) Look for plat du jour at the restaurants to eat out cheap in Lyon
Many Lyon restaurants offer a dish of the day (‘plat du jour’) during the week. It's a great way to try something tasty with little risk for your travelling budget. Note that a bottle of tap water is always free. If you want one, just ask for a ‘carafe d'eau’.
