Gdansk is the famous Danzing Goldwasser’s birthplace, a strong (40%) root and herbal liqueur. It derived its name from a small amount of gold flakes added to the recipe. In Gdansk, you can see Vermollen distillery, in which the drink was invented in the 16th century. Fans of this liquor may wish to visit the riverside Goldwasser restaurant. Note, however, that genuine Danziger Goldwasser is now produced only in Berlin. Besides, the prices at the airport's duty-free shop may be lower.

Its building was constructed in 1896, and architecture admirers will appreciate its Neo-Gothic style. During its restoration in the 2000s, the foundations of the 12th-century Church of St. Nicolas were discovered. That is one of the oldest churches in Gdansk! Visitors of the market can still see those foundations as they were found. There are also drawings of the church’s probable look.
